TWISTED WHEEL

How do you feel when a show sells out?

When you sell out a show obviously it’s one of the main perks of the business. It’s symbology that your doing the right things and your music means something to people. I’m not going to say it brings a tear to our eyes but yeah it’s a proper buzz.

How do you feel about being on the Y-NOT festival line-up and what was your highlight from your previous performance?

We love Y-NOT festival. We are made up to be on the line up. Last time we played we did a secret gig there in some sort of cow boy bar. It was pretty cool. We had a great turn out and then luckily landed a set in one of the main tents because a band had to pull out. We have great fans in that area so I’m sure this year is going to be one to remember.

How does music make you feel and has it ever been your therapy?

Course it’s my therapy. Listening to records in rehab really hit home as I was there for a good while and there wasn’t much to do and my head was in bits. I listened to Leonard Cohen’s full back catalogue and Lana Del Reys album Honey moon on repeat. I’d never been so taken over by any artist like that before but generally music gets me through day to day. I think most people will connect with what I’m saying. Your down you put something on to get you through the dark times. Your going on a big night out you get the uplifting tunes on in the shower and so on. I think our gigs are an example of people letting out the stress of work and the rat race. Twisted Wheel seems to take people to another level at gigs. It’s amazing to watch from the stage while playing.

What can fan's expect from your new music?

The sound has progressed. For the better of course. I think people will hear a classic rock band some kind of mash up of Fleetwood Mac , Neil Young , The stooges, Joy division and early cure. There’s an element of New wave post punk in there but without doubt you know your listening to twisted wheel. I think genuine people are going to be impressed.

What makes music so important to you and why?

Music is everything. Like I said before it’s the soundtrack to our life’s. Memory’s are made to music. I could go on to say that some music has sent me off the rails but looking back At that it was all fun in some dark kind of way. Music brings people together. Doesn’t matter where they’re from or what team they support. When people love a band they come together and show appreciation together and share that experience

What are your emotions surrounding performing at Reading/Leeds fest?

We got those gigs ourselves like all the gigs as we don’t have an agent and are completely independent these days so it’s a big thing to be on such a massive festival. We got on last year and although we were first on opening the radio one stage we absolutely smashed it and got a massive amount of people ready for the day. The turn out was exceptional for half 12 in the afternoon and like we planned we did the business. And got invited back this year with a better slot. Also Leeds was the first festival I ever went to to see The Prodigy in 2002 I think. So Leeds will always hold a special place in my heart. Dreams are made at festivals like Reading and Leeds. I’m sure we will have a major effect this year and the gigs will only show how much we’ve grown and how hard we have worked since starting up again late 2017.
