LAURA HIBBERED

What were your emotions & inspirations for releasing ‘what do girls want?’

I wrote this track super sarcastically; I love the irony of girls being difficult characters. I think it’s cool when someone has no idea what I want. For me, I just wanted to be direct and punchy – I feel as though it’s quite millennial as well. It’s hard not to be now.

How does music make you feel/ has it ever been a therapy?

Definitely, I think there’s a soundtrack for everything we do. That’s why there’s music in films man. I’m one for exploiting this to get the most of out of a feeling.

What makes music so important to you and why?

I guess it’s just the only thing that continues to make sense to me, and make sense out of me. I feel like it’s become a lifestyle choice, one that I would not dream of reconsidering.

What was like being noticed by Huw Stephens for BBC Introducing’s tip of 2019?

INCREDIBLE. What a reassuring seal of approval. I can’t think him enough. I’m just so happy for anyone to find merit in the music I am making.

What was the highlight of supporting Eliza & The Bear?

Those guys are so much fun, it was a pleasure to share an evening at vodka revolution with them. This was my first ‘tour’ so will always be full of highlights for me.

What was it like to play alongside Girli and Lion early 2018?

This was one of my favourite gigs of last year. Such a great crowd in my local area, it was awesome to be a part of it. Girli and Lion are just the dream, hands down the coolest people.
