TOM LUMLEY
How does it feel to be playing festivals ?
I’ve been going to festival since I can remember thanks to my dad taking me at a young age so playing them was always a priority for me. I just think festivals are a chance for everyone to forget about real life and just enjoy themselves with no boundaries. To be playing some of the UK’s biggest festivals with bands we’ve grown up listening to still hasn’t sunk in and I don’t think it ever will.

What was it like supporting The Hunna last year at the Cambridge junction ?
It was a childhood dream of mine to play Cambridge Junction so to get to do it to a sold out crowd supporting a band that we are big fans of was like a dream come true. The fans got so involved and we literally walked off stage blown away.

How does music make you feel / has it ever been your therapy ?
It just makes me feel free and like I can do and be who ever I want to be. I’m quite a positive happy person as it is but music just helps perk me up if i’m ever down.
What’s your greatest experience yet through music ?
Supporting The Hunna would have to be up there alongside playing Secret Garden Party for BBC Introducing. I think so far though playing a sold out headline show at The Portland Arms is top. Playing to 200 people singing our songs back to us was so surreal.
Leaving all remnants of the usual singer-songwriter sound in his wake, Tom Lumley and his band are gaining a reputation for taking to the stage with monumental energy that’s felt from the front row to the back of the room. Tom and his band have supported some of the UK’s hottest bands, including The Hunna, The Sherlocks, Coasts and Airways. Lumley also took to the stage last year to play the very last Secret Garden Party for BBC Introducing, as well as playing Dot To Dot, Splendour and Green Meadow festivals. Tom continually receives immense support from his local BBC Introducing Cambridgeshire show, with follow up single ‘Just Like The Light’ being the show’s most played track of 2017. Tom was tipped on Huw Stephens Radio 1 show as being an “artist to look out for” by Fred Bambridge. Having sold out The Portland Arms in Cambridge this year already, Tom looks to continue the pace and spread his sound across the country.
What makes music so important to you?
Music is everything to me. It’s what i’ve put my whole life into. I just think it’s so easy to forget about everything and pin yourself you when you’re down by listening to or playing music.
