THE SEAMONSTERS
What were your emotions upon releasing ‘Blue Movie Baby’?
There was definitely a lot of excitement with consciously taking our sound in a new direction, it's been a while since our last release as well so we were obviously anxious for it to do well but insanely proud of it either way.
How do you feel having been asked to play tramlines for a second time and what was your highlight from your first experience performing there?
we're so excited!! We can't wait to get up alongside some of the artists we admire most for the second year in a row! A highlight last was definitely the big stage, with six of us we're not so used to having that much space and it gave us freedom to really enjoy ourselves and get into the music, also Holly's leap of faith off the stage at the end.
How does music make you feel and has it ever been your therapy?
Music has always been such integral part of my life, I'm so happy it brought us all together at such a young age even before The Seamonsters. Rhythm and music is a part of our biology & the definition of music is basically just a collection of sounds that make you feel something, I think that's really powerful and there's definitely some therapeutic relief in knowing that however you feel, music can express that in some way.

In light of international women’s day , What is it like being an all female band in the music industry?
There's a lot of pre-judgement when you walk on stage before you start playing, sometimes people are surprised that we play our own instruments and don't just all sing and sometimes people expect us to be like Girls Aloud or something. At the moment festivals are being pushed more and more to have equality in their line ups which is clearly working in our favour, however, we don't want to be put on as your token girl band we want to be put on because our music's good and we deserve to be there. We've said right from the beginning that our music is the most important thing, after all we are a band and our gender shouldn't define us.
What is your expectation for your UK spring tour?
We're not really sure what to expect. We've did a tour last September and were honestly so surprised at how many people came out. Some of the places on this tour we've never played before so that'll be really fun to do. Going on tour is a really great opportunity for us to do lots of gigs in a row and really work on our live performance. We can't wait!
What makes music so important to you and why?
This is a tricky one.. I think just the fact that we've wrote it and seen the whole process. Our songs will start with just like a guitar riff or drum beat and then we'll build on top of them until we're happy with that section. It's really cool to get to see the process and development of songs and it does make you feel more protective over them. Also, a lot of our songs are about issues that are really important to us such as being girls in such a male dominated industry and it's super important to us to get that out there.
