MONSTER FLORENCE

What was it like to perform at the smokehouse as part of independent venue week?

We loved it; was sick to play in such a small venue... the room was packed and we had people there from all age groups which was great. Highlight would have been two 14 year olds starting off the first 8 bars Dream and Alex Osiris verses too resourceful

How does music make you feel / has it ever been your therapy?

Collectively music is one of the most important things in all of our lives, we meet up several times a week at the studio to write and record, but a lot of the time we just sit there sharing new music we’ve found with each other... from a therapeutic perspective, our music is our outlet for any thing that we are going through as a band or as individuals. Some of the tracks we have our are deeply personal, and tell stories of real life experiences. We go to the studio and shut and lock the doors for 14 hours, and completely lose ourselves in the process.
What was it like to work with Miles Kane?

Yeah it’s been really cool. We’ve worked with quite a few people in the time we’ve been together as a band, but working with Miles has been the most effortless... literally 10 minutes into our first session, we’d written 80% of a straight banger.

What was it like to perform live for BBC introducing Suffolk?

It was an experience to say the least. We’ve done live radio before, but it’s usually on a delay, this was live live... so we were very conscious of not swearing, we played really well, but a couple of lyrical mishaps got dropped in the set

What makes music so important to you and why?

It’s a universal language and a form of escapism.

Whats the best gig you’ve ever played and why?

Gotta be Reading And Leeds 2017 on the bbc 1xtra stage... we’d spent most of the year in the studio detached from the world, when we hit the reading stage there was a couple of thousand people tearing up the tent. Very humbling experience.
